Tungsten copper alloy (WCu) is a two-phase pseudo-alloy and metal matrix composite made of high-melting-point tungsten and high-conductivity copper. Since tungsten and copper have an extreme melting point difference, they are insoluble in solid state and do not form intermetallic compounds. Therefore, WCu alloys cannot be produced by traditional melting methods and are exclusively manufactured through powder metallurgy and vacuum copper infiltration technology. It is a high-performance functional material widely used in power electronics, precision machining and aerospace industries.
Tungsten copper perfectly combines the advantages of two metals: it retains tungsten’s high temperature resistance, high hardness, low thermal expansion and excellent arc erosion resistance, while inheriting copper’s superior thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and good machinability. It solves the technical bottleneck of single metals that cannot balance high-temperature stability and efficient heat dissipation/conductivity.
